Kerry was approached by a customer who needed a specialised partner to design and deliver a new process to manufacture its malt-based nutritional beverages. The objective was to overcome specific production challenges while improving sustainability and providing cost savings.
Approach
Our cross-function team of food scientists and technologists knew that enzymatic solutions deliver nutritional benefits via raw materials that are less expensive than many other options.
By adding TKTKTPRDOUCT to the nutritional beverage recipe, the team was able to create an affordable product that delivered on consumers’ taste and nutrition preferences. The final formulation also featured an improved manufacturing process, lower cost local raw materials and reduced water and energy usage.
Impact
With enzymes, the brand was able to deliver a better nutritional beverage product through more eco-friendly processes. The cost savings and lower price point opened up an affordable nutritional product to a lower economic demographic and the manufacturing required less water and less energy. Today, the product is a high growth SKU and one of the company’s best performing products.
